In partnership with Iowa State’s College of Human Sciences, Human Sciences Extension and Outreach engages you through research-based education, empowering you to live your best life. Our education helps you become closer to family, raise healthy children, talk with your teens, improve relationships, enjoy a lifetime full of memories, save more money, live a healthy life, have access to trusted resources, and care for yourself and others. We have a program just for you!

Growing Strong Families

Growing strong Families serves families who are expecting a child as well as those with children up to five years of age who live in Fremont and Page counties.

This program is FREE to participating families.  GSF is a voluntary, curriculum-based home visitation program designed  to help you:  

  • Understand your child at each age and stage
  • Encourage positive behaviors
  • Have fun with age-appropriate activities
  • Plan nutritious meals and snacks and encourage healthy eating
  • Create environments that assist your child to reach his or her full potential
  • Develop family resource plans

During a personal visit, a parent educator will:

  • Share information based on your needs
  • Teach lessons on child development, nutrition, resource management, and health and safety
  • Demonstrate developmentally appropriate activities
  • Provide annual screenings
  • Connect you with organizations that support and enrich your family

COVID-19 Presents Unique Childcare Concerns

Families are understandably feeling overwhelmed with child care decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic. ISU Extension and Outreach has developed the COVID-19 Child Care Considerations publication series to help families sort through decisions during these trying times.
