School Enrichment

The following programs and resources are available locally for youth participants, classrooms or homeschool groups.

Elementary
  • Adopt-A-Cow School Program - The Adopt A Cow program is unique and offers educators an easy way to bring dairy education into the classroom while including fun, hands-on activities throughout the year. The program incorporates a U.S. farm to enhance lessons that have been built to meet Common CORE standards.
  • Chick Hatching - The Chick Hatching program is a four-week program for lower-elementary classrooms that provides real, hands-on experience with agriculture in the classroom. Students discover an understanding of life cycles, the ag industry and develop general life skills by working as a team, caring for animals and giving generously.
Middle School
  • Ricochet: An Extreme Leadership Adventure - To ricochet means to move round with a lot of energy and be unpredictable - sort of like middle school youth. They bounce from one thing to the next trying on different roles as they find their place in the world. Something else you cannot predict: when opportunities for youth leadership will arise, but you can help prepare them to become leaders. Ricochet uses adventure and experience to bring about learning.
High School
  • Precision Agriculture and Animal Science - Precision Agriculture and Animal Science Days take place annually in early-September. Local high school agriculture education students are invited to attend for hands-on innovative agriculture education at the local Northwest Iowa  Research Farm near Calumet.
  • World Food Prize - Contact Kate at 712-957-5045 or kstewart@iastate.edu for assistance.
