NOW HIRING: Full-Time K-12 Program Coordinator

Position: K-12 Program Coordinator
Hours: 40 hours/week (including flexibility to work some evenings and weekends)
Based in: Primghar, Iowa (with some travel required)
Reports to: O’Brien County Extension Council
Job Purpose: Plan, coordinate and conduct innovative educational programming opportunities for O’Brien County youth and communities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct and conduct hands-on educational programming in 4-H and Youth Development priority areas in cooperation with the O’Brien County Youth Coordinator. (Examples of educational programming may include: STEM Summer Camps, Sewing or Photography workshops, Clover Kids after-school sessions, etc.)
  • Coordinate community and economic development programming efforts with the support of Community Development Field Specialists from Iowa State University.
  • Work with county staff to market programming opportunities to residents of the county, including but not limited to underserved populations.
  • Assist with adult volunteer recruitment and development to deliver or assist in the delivery of ISU Extension and Outreach programming.
  • Work independently and with other staff to secure necessary resources (volunteers, materials, donations, etc.) to support ISU Extension and Outreach programs.
  • Manage resources and partnerships to ensure effective delivery of educational programs.
  • Assist with the O’Brien County Fair.
  • Provide comprehensive and complex educational programming to support long-term behavioral change.
  • Be recognized locally as an ISU Extension and Outreach professional through networking, community involvement and public relations.
  • Provide monthly written progress updates to the O’Brien County Extension Council of activities, programming and impact.

Qualifications:

  • Evidence of effective teaching and program delivery, specifically to youth.
  • Coursework in education with experience in formal and/or informal teaching.
  • Evidence of networking, advocacy and salesmanship skills.
  • Strong organization, communication and customer relation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer programs.
  • Ability to successfully manage schedule including some evening, weekend and overnight programs.
  • Four-year degree preferred, or associate degree with related job experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass background screening to meet the Child Protection and Safety Policy requirements.
  • Experience as a user of Extension programs a plus, but not required.

Terms of Employment:

  • Position will be based at the ISU Extension and Outreach O’Brien County office located at 340 2nd Street SE in Primghar, with some travel necessary for events and programming.
  • The position reports directly to the personnel committee of the O’Brien County Extension Council.
  • Starting wage will be $16.25 per hour, plus benefits.
  • Work hours will be flexible, including some evenings, weekends and overnights, not to exceed 40 hours per week.
  • Mileage and other approved travel expenses will be reimbursed monthly at the IRS rate.
