Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is currently accepting applicants for the Robotics, STEM and Cooking & the Arts Summer Educators. These three individuals will serve Lyon, Osceola, Sioux, O'Brien and Cherokee Counties from May 17, 2021 through August 6, 2021. Submit cover letter, resume and three professional references to Beth Bunkers at bbunkers@iastate.edu by Sunday, November 1.

Drops in income, increased unemployment, unexpected disasters and overall economic instability in 2020 have resulted in financial uncertainty for many Iowa families. “Families are searching for resources and guidance to relieve stress and be more financially stable,” says Phyllis Zalenski, a human sciences specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. “Professionals and community members who help support financially stressed adults are in demand now more than ever.”

Due to COVID-19 concerns, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will offer several online trainings for child care providers this fall.

Each training will be offered at two different times and taught by ISU Extension and Outreach human sciences specialists.

Food preservation remains a popular nutrition and wellness topic particularly as the current pandemic has increased the number of Iowans who are growing their own food. Two online workshops aim to educate Iowans about the preservation of tomatoes and apples this October.

Clover Kids is a fun youth program designed for children in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade. Participants take part in activities to explore the areas of science, technology, engineering, math, healthy living, personal development and expressive arts, all while gaining valuable social skills. Please note, we are currently offering the Clover Explorer program from October through June, and will start Clover Kids when it is safe to do so.
