Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach will host a three-session“Healthy & Homemade” cooking series from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Oct. 15, 22 and 29 at the ISU Extension and Outreach office located at 400 Central Avenue Northwest in Orange City. The “Healthy & Homemade” program focuses on using a person’s time, money and skills wisely to save money while still preparing nutritious and safe meals.

 Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach Horticulture Program Coordinator Dawn Henderson will present “Putting Your Garden to Bed for the Winter” at three different locations in Northwest Iowa during September. As fall arrives, gardeners will begin winterizing their garden for the year.

Growing older is the greatest risk factor for acquiring Parkinson’s Disease and many people live with symptoms for several years before being diagnosed. To provide more resources on the topic, Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach will host A Journey Through Parkinson’s Disease on Oct. 10, 17 and 24 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Osceola Regional Health Center Wellness Center Community Room in Sibley.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach offers several ServSafe® classes each year for food service professionals. ServSafe® training will provide knowledge every food service provider must know about. The class will address food hazards and proper food handling practices in order to keep food safe and protect the establishment against the costly nightmare of a foodborne-illness outbreak. Participants will learn ways of prevention, regulatory requirements, and how to improve food quality.

    The Buy. Eat. Live Healthy is a free program that help parents provide nutritious food for their families, leading to healthy children and strong families

  • The number of overweight children (ages 6-11) has almost quadrupled in the past four decades and for adolescents (12-19) has tripled. This series of handouts is designed to help parents, communities, and childcare providers address the overweight issue.
