The annual regional 4-H Swim/Skate Party is scheduled for Thursday, December 27 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the All-Season Center in Sioux Center. 4-H members are invited to join other youth from around the area for a fun day of swimming, skating, food, friends and fun! Skating will take place from noon to 2:00 p.m. and swimming from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The Dairy Discussions: Risk Management and Labor Issues program is set for Tuesday, Dec. 4 at the Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach - Sioux County office in Orange City. Dairy Discussions: Risk Management and Labor Issues grew out of concerns expressed by the Western Iowa Dairy Alliance (WIDA) board as to the hardships of finding qualified labor and keeping them in a depressed milk market. ICE raids earlier this year and the political climate in general, have heightened stress levels. Discussions will also include consistent labor management and how that relates to cow management, risk management tools, and a market update.

Parents of preschool-age children are invited to join “Family Storyteller” for three sessions at the Paullina Public Library on Tuesdays, Nov. 6, Nov. 13 and Nov. 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Books, home activity kits, snacks and crafts are all a part of these free fun-filled, enjoyable evenings with your children. The “Family Storyteller” program helps parents prepare their children to succeed in school and watch them grow in independence. Parents learn reading techniques and practice reading books to their children. Additionally, fun language and craft activities complement the books and extend the learning.
