ISU Extension and Outreach has created a series of flowcharts to help producers market their food crops, while also guiding them to the appropriate agencies or departments for regulations, certifications or licenses needed to comply with state rules.
ISU Extension and Outreach will host five food safety and Iowa regulation training sessions to help producers – home food operations and home bakers – better comply with the state of Iowa regulations.
Iowa State University faculty and small-scale food operation experts will present a half-day, livestream workshop Feb. 12 for entrepreneurs who want to turn their gardening/agricultural and cooking/food production interests into small businesses.
Iowans with home-based food operations may attend a fall workshop covering regulations and food safety best practices to ensure safe handling of their products from the kitchen to the point of sale. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is offering workshops Nov. 12 in Ames and Dec. 3 in Peosta.
To help keep Iowans safe, the ISU Extension and Outreach food safety team is offering Safe Produce for Donation workshops in five locations this summer.
Food Safety and Iowa Regulation and Preparation Training modules are now available online 24/7 from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. The modules are intended for exempt home food operations and home bakers who make and sell foods out of their homes or sell produce at farmers markets.
