Iowa State Offers Class on FDA Registration for Food and Feed Companies

The Iowa Grain Quality Initiative and Center for Industrial Research and Service at Iowa State University are teaming up with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to offer a free informational class about food and feed firm registration. Food and feed facilities are required to renew their registration with the FDA every two years on even numbered years between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31.

Kent Corporation is committing $8 million, the Iowa Corn Promotion Board $4 million and Sukup Manufacturing Co. $2 million in support of a new Iowa State University educational and research facility for feed milling and grain science.

Farmland Values Show Historic Third Year of Decline

Average Iowa farmland value has shown a decline for the third year in a row — the first time this has happened since the 1980s farm crisis — and is now estimated to be $7,183 per acre. The statewide per acre value declined $449, or 5.9 percent, since November 2015. Land values were determined by the 2016 Iowa State University Land Value Survey.
