Iowa Learning Farms, along with Elk Run Watershed and Practical Farmers of Iowa, will host a cover crop workshop on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 12-2 p.m. at the Swan Lake Conservation Education Center near Carroll. The event is free and open to the public and includes a complimentary meal.
The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Community Food Systems program will hold the fourth annual Community Food Systems Event Jan. 12, 2018, at the Iowa State University Alumni Center, Ames. The daylong event will highlight best practices across all areas of community food systems from around the region.
ISU Extension and Outreach will offer a crop scout school March 21 at the Iowa State University Northeast Research Farm near Nashua. The event is an all-day class specially designed for growers and crop scouts with limited scouting experience (0-2 years).
Registration is now open for the 43rd Iowa Municipal Professionals Institute, an annual event cosponsored by the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Office of State and Local Government Programs and the Iowa League of Cities. The Institute is scheduled for July 16–20 and July 23–25 at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center in Ames.
One hundred thirty Iowa youth from 68 counties participated in the 2017 Awardrobe Clothing Event Aug. 10 at the Iowa State Fair.
Thirteen Iowa 4-H members joined more than 1,000 young people from 33 states at the Western National Roundup Jan. 4-7 in Denver, Colo. Iowa 4-H’ers placed in the top 10 for several events, both as teams and individuals.
The 2018 Dairy Days, hosted by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach specialists, are set for seven eastern Iowa locations between Jan. 15 and Feb. 1.
