The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Community Food Systems program will hold the fourth annual Community Food Systems Event Jan. 12, 2018, at the Iowa State University Alumni Center, Ames. The daylong event will highlight best practices across all areas of community food systems from around the region.
Local, state and national legislative policies with a significant impact on the ability to develop thriving, sustainable local food systems in Iowa will be the focus of the May 25 meeting.
The Local Foods Program team says shepherding can be used to engage a multi-county region to create change in food systems.
Professional development for those active in local foods is available at no cost Feb. 15. The following day Iowa's Regional Food Systems Working Group will conduct their quarterly meeting.
