A group of Iowa 4-H youth will come to Ames March 2–3 to be trained as a cadre of leaders for a new STEM curriculum, "Monarchs on the Move." The curriculum will be implemented by 4-H programs in Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska and is expected to reach 5,000 youth from rural, urban and suburban backgrounds.
Several themed 4-H summer camps for youth grades 4-12 will give youth the opportunity to meet other students from around the state who share their interests, while experiencing a high quality educational program.
Individuals interested in becoming Master Gardeners may now register for the training session being offered this fall. Registration must be made by Sept. 1.
A new tool developed by the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Local Foods Program can help local foods organizations know whether their projects and programs are accomplishing their goals. The Question Keeper survey database is available free for one year.
Through “Juntos Para Una Mejor Educación (Together for a Better Education),” Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, local organizations, schools and Latino families are working together to identify strategies and opportunities to help youth do well in school and pursue higher education. ISU Extension and Outreach is sponsoring a training Nov. 17-18 in Cedar Rapids for people who would like to become Juntos program facilitators.
