Iowa Farmland Values Increase After Three Years of Decline
After having fallen in each of the three previous years, the average value of an acre of farmland in Iowa saw an increase in 2017. The average statewide value of an acre of farmland is now estimated to be $7,326. This represents an increase of 2.0 percent, or $143 per acre, from the 2016 estimate.

Local Foods Team Collaborates on Iowa Commercial Horticulture Survey
The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, in partnership with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, released the Iowa Commercial Horticulture Survey earlier this week. The survey, which uses data from the 2015 growing season, is the first comprehensive statewide look at Iowa horticulture in more than a decade.

Farmland Values Show Historic Third Year of Decline
Average Iowa farmland value has shown a decline for the third year in a row — the first time this has happened since the 1980s farm crisis — and is now estimated to be $7,183 per acre. The statewide per acre value declined $449, or 5.9 percent, since November 2015. Land values were determined by the 2016 Iowa State University Land Value Survey.
Landowner Stories Introduce Iowa’s Land Grant Legacy
Families with land in 13 northern Iowa counties shared their family stories at the Iowa Land Grant Legacy celebration at the Clay County Fair Sept. 16. These families are the first in Iowa to know of their connection to Iowa’s Land Grant Legacy – a project initiated by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
