Registration is now open for the 43rd Iowa Municipal Professionals Institute, an annual event cosponsored by the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Office of State and Local Government Programs and the Iowa League of Cities. The Institute is scheduled for July 16–20 and July 23–25 at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center in Ames.
An online course has been designed by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach to provide farmers and agribusinesses the information needed to better manage weeds in crop fields.

Iowa Learning Farms will host a workshop on soil health and grazing on Thursday, March 15 from 6-8 p.m. for those new to farming and developing sustainable business plans.
Iowa State University is working to ensure that child care centers and homes, preschools, and after-school programs across the state are healthy and safe for all children. An online course developed by Human Sciences Extension and Outreach has provided training to 23,640 Iowa child care providers and early childhood teachers since September 2016.
ISU Extension and Outreach will offer a crop scout school March 21 at the Iowa State University Northeast Research Farm near Nashua. The event is an all-day class specially designed for growers and crop scouts with limited scouting experience (0-2 years).
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is offering fruit tree grafting workshops on March 28, March 29, April 6 and April 7. Participants will hear a presentation on why and how to graft fruit trees by commercial horticulture specialist, Patrick O’Malley and take part in a hands-on apple tree grafting demonstration.
Three workshops will be held to help growers, industry representatives, local food coordinators, extension staff and county horticulturists learn to manage common challenges in high tunnels while also discussing new advances in high tunnel production.
Pork producers can learn about building ventilation through a series of “Managing Your Unseen Employee: The Ventilation System” workshops offered by Iowa Pork Industry Center, Iowa Pork Producers Association and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
