All webinars are free to attend, and are co-organized and co-hosted by Aude Watrelot, assistant professor and extension enology specialist at Iowa State University, and Drew Horton, enology specialist at the University of Minnesota’s Grape Breeding and Enology Project.

The Oct. 18 webinar will feature Angelita Gambuti, University of Naples Federico II, who will discuss research around the use of micro-oxygenation, followed by Mark Cave, wine product specialist with the AEB Group, who will explain the practical aspects of micro-oxygenation and techniques of oxygen management.

“Micro-oxygenation is something we see frequently explored in the wine industry, but it is not commonly used in the Midwest, or in Iowa. We want to provide some information about this technique for local winemakers,” explained Watrelot. “A common problem in the Midwest is wine oxidation, which can dramatically reduce wine quality if not properly managed. We want to provide tools for winemakers to use as well as general knowledge about how to manage oxygen throughout wine making process.”
