It is said that prevention is the best medicine, and that is the goal of a new partnership between Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and the Iowa Heart Center Foundation. The foundation will provide support for SWITCH, an evidence-based, school wellness initiative designed to help schools promote healthy lifestyles for youth.
There is no denying the pandemic has placed additional stress on schools across Iowa. Extension councils can play a key role in helping local schools by supporting the adoption of a 4-H program called SWITCH (School Wellness Integration Targeting Child Health).
Registration is now open for SWITCH, School Wellness Integration Targeting Child Health. The innovative school wellness initiative supports and enhances school wellness programming for fourth through eighth-grade students. Through SWITCH, schools can help students to "Switch what they Do, View and Chew."
