IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Community Food Systems Program and the Iowa Farm to School and Early Care Coalition with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Farm, Food and Enterprise Development welcome individuals, groups and organizations to submit presentation proposals for the Community Food Systems + Farm to School and Early Care Conference, June 13-14 in Iowa City.

This annual event celebrates local foods, collaboration and cross-sector partnerships in all areas of the food system and farm to school. The conference will provide a unique opportunity for practitioners and providers to share about their work, research or community project. Sessions will explore the conference theme, "Rooted in Community: Growing Partnerships for Sustainable Food Systems." Request for Proposals graphic.

Session options include

  • Bite-Size: 15-minute sessions to briefly share about a successful program, project or research study.
  • Breakout: 60-minute sessions to discuss a project, initiative, or research and interact with session participants.

“Breakout sessions always provide an amazing space for individuals to learn about existing food systems and farm to school practices,” said Courtney Long, food systems program manager with ISU Extension and Outreach. “Each year participants walk away with new ideas and collaborations to apply to their community.”

All sessions will take place Friday, June 14, at the Graduate Iowa City hotel, following a pre-conference day consisting of site visits and a community dinner. Accepted proposals will receive one-day waived registration for presenters. Collaborative presentation proposals with multiple presenters are encouraged to submit proposals to share a variety of perspectives and expertise. Multiple submissions are allowed.

Proposals will be accepted through March 15 online. Interested individuals can preview questions and prepare for their proposal through a shareable file:
