AMES, Iowa – Andrea Nelson has been named to the Iowa State Fair Board. She will represent Iowa State University and ISU President Wendy Wintersteen.
Nelson is assistant vice president for county services with ISU Extension and Outreach. She was named to the Iowa State Fair Board Feb. 7, during the Iowa State Agricultural Society annual meeting at the Iowa Association of Fairs Conference.
Iowa Code Chapter 173 reads that the president of Iowa State University has a director position on the Iowa State Fair Board. President Wintersteen appoints her representative to the board.
“I look forward to representing President Wintersteen and the university and working with the entire board for a successful 2021 Iowa State Fair. The fair has a rich history and prides itself for striking a balance between retaining traditions and being innovative,” Nelson said.
“The fair is a great way to promote Iowa’s agricultural heritage, provide unique learning opportunities and have a positive impact on the state’s economy,” Nelson said.
“I’m also excited to see the renovated 4-H Exhibit Building be dedicated during the 2021 Iowa State Fair. It will be a great venue full of new learning and interactive opportunities for people of all ages,” Nelson added.
