AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host its annual Southeast Iowa Agricultural Research Association meeting on March 1, 2018. The meeting will be held at the ISU Extension and Outreach Johnson County Office (3109 Old Highway 218 South, Iowa City) and begins at 10 a.m.
The day will feature an update on activities at the Iowa State University Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm from Myron Rees, superintendent of the facility, as well as presentations by ISU Extension and Outreach specialists.
“This is an opportunity for stakeholders to learn about current research and future plans for the research farm,” said Meaghan Anderson, field agronomist with ISU Extension and Outreach. “It is also an opportunity for local farmers, ag retailers and others working in agriculture to receive valuable information and research updates from Iowa State.”
Highlighting the presentations will be Kristine Tidgren, director of the Iowa State University Center for Agricultural Law and Taxation, who will speak about dicamba.
“We are very excited to have Kristine available to discuss current legal cases involving dicamba and liability, as it’s such an important topic for all pesticide applicators and landowners to be aware of,” Anderson said.
Additional presentations by Iowa State faculty and extension specialists during the event include:
2018 Crop Market Outlook – Chad Hart, associate professor and extension economist
Using ISU Weather, Soil Moisture and Temperature Station Data for Decision Making – Elwynn Taylor, professor of agricultural meteorology and extension climatologist
