Evening Crop Walk Planned for Humboldt County

Basic scouting for drop disease, insects and other mid-season concerns

Walking through corn field.HUMBOLDT, Iowa – Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host an evening crop walk from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, near Gilmore City. 

“This crop walk will cover the basics of mid-season scouting,” said Angie Rieck-Hinz, extension field agronomist. “We will discuss current conditions, scout for insects and crop diseases and talk about management practices. We will also review weed control effectiveness.”

Participants are encouraged to bring their own crop samples for evaluation.

The farm is located at 811 SE D Ave., Gilmore City. Supper will be provided. Attendees are asked to register for the program so adequate food can be provided and also to bring their own lawn chairs.
