Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is offering Mental Health First Aid – virtual and in-person education programs to help Iowans help each other with mental health challenges.
Although Iowa farmers can get ready for fall harvest, the stress they may face from weather, labor, time and financial challenges can become overwhelming. In response, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is continuing to offer a suicide prevention program called “Question. Persuade. Refer.”
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will provide Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings to strengthen rural communities and support youth during the new school year. This program provides adults with tools they can use to identify when a youth (ages 6-18) in their life might be struggling with a mental health and/or substance use problem.
In 2023 Iowa State University Extension and Outreach staff will be delivering farm stress resource packets to Spanish speaking farmworkers across Iowa.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth and young adults between the ages of 10 and 34. In response, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is continuing to offer virtual and in-person “Question. Persuade. Refer.” trainings, also known as QPR.
