AMES, Iowa -- The goals of the Community and Economic Development program of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach have always been to foster thriving, resilient Iowa communities and economies. These efforts matter now more than ever. For this reason, ISU Extension and Outreach CED temporarily has shifted its quarterly newsletter, Community Matters, to a shorter format delivered monthly. Community Matters Now highlights CED’s efforts to respond to these challenging times.
The first issue of Community Matters Now was emailed and posted online on April 28. This first issue offers a number of online resources available to local governments and businesses as they cope with the shutdown. It also highlights how CED is shifting programming to a virtual program, starting with the Introduction to Planning and Zoning workshops.
Future issues of the newsletter will offer guidance on reopening communities and businesses in “the new normal.”
Information on virtual programming and resources is available on the CED program’s COVID-19 resources page.
To subscribe to Community Matters Now as an e-publication and/or print version or to download a PDF of the first issue, visit the CED website (https://www.extension.iastate.edu/communities/newsletter).
