2023 Summer Day Camps

The Muscatine County Extension Office is excited to announce our 2023 Summer Day Camp Programs!

Registration is now open for all youth in grades 1st through 6th grade. Grade is determined by the grade that the youth will be going into this coming fall.

Each day will have a morning session (8:00 am to 11:30 am) or an afternoon session (1:00 pm to 4:30 pm) to choose from.

Growing in the Garden
June 20th for 1st to 3rd Graders
June 21st for 4th to 6th Graders

Campers will learn about how seeds grow into plants that produce the food they eat while getting their hands dirty. They will learn about gardening and will be able to take home a plant or two!

Snack Provided: A variety of vegetables to taste test & fruit kabob

Cool Computers & Coding
July 12th for 1st to 3rd Graders 
July 11th for 4th to 6th Graders

Campers are introduced to basic computer coding concepts through games, robots and block-based coding programs. They will be introduced to our resident robots: Mike, Simon, Cue and a few more!

Snack Provided: Black bean salsa.

Animals of Iowa
June 26th for 1st to 3rd Graders 
June 27th for 4th to 6th Graders

Come and learn more about the different species of mammals, birds, fish, insects and more that call Iowa home. We will be visiting Weed Park to try and find as many animals as we can in their habitats!

Snack Provided: Goat cheese toast with strawberries and balsamic glaze.

Astro Camp
July 24th for 1st to 3rd Graders 
July 25th for 4th to 6th Graders

Campers attending will have the opportunity to learn about the astronauts, planets, and more space fun!

Join us to learn all things outer space!

Snack Provided: Ham or turkey finger sandwiches

Forces of Nature
June 28th for 1st to 3rd Graders 
June 29th for 4th to 6th Graders

Campers will explore earthquakes, floods, fire and extreme weather while exploring different parts of the Earth!

Snack Provided: Graham cracker smackers with banana & sunflower butter.

Kids in the Kitchen
July 31st for 1st to 3rd Graders 
August 1st for 4th to 6th Graders

Campers will learn how to make a well-balanced plate when eating. We will use vegetables from our own garden planted in June to make these yummy snacks!

Snack Provided: DIY pizza

Creepy Crawlies
July 6th for 1st to 3rd Graders 
July 7th for 4th to 6th Graders

The Bugs! We’ll take a closer look at the insects, spiders and more creepy crawlies that are all around us through exploration and experimentation.

Snack Provided: Dirt cups with gummy worms.

Ooey Gooey Science
July 26th & 27th for 1st to 3rd Graders 
August 2nd & 3rd for 4th to 6th Graders

Campers will explore slimy, gooey, gross science while conducting all kinds of icky, sticky experiments!

Get ready to be playing in some slimy, yucky science fun in this camp!

Snack Provided: Pumpkin cheesecake dip with cinnamon graham crackers.

How to Register 

Registration is on a first come-first serve basis. Once all of the spots have been filled we will also have a waitlist in place.

Please fill out registration form below & mail or drop it off at our office with registration fee to secure a spot. Alternatively, you can register online and mail or drop off your payment at the Extension Office. If you would like to pay by credit card, please indicate so on the registration and you will have an invoice emailed to you. Please note, if you choose to pay by credit card there is a convenience fee equal to 3%.
