Muscatine Extension Demonstration & Youth Education Garden

History of the Donation Garden

The Muscatine County Extension Demonstration & Youth Education Garden was created in 2022 with a generous grant from Bayer, Farm Credit Services, Growing Together Iowa and Muscatine Master Gardeners. It serves as a demonstration garden for different growing techniques including growing in containers/small spaces, using cattle panels for trellis's, drip irrigation on a timer, etc. and a learning area for youth in Muscatine to learn about seeds and growing a garden. Produce that is harvested is donated to MCSA. The garden is maintained by the Muscatine County Extension staff and Muscatine Master Gardener volunteers. In 2023, the Muscatine County Pollinator Project created a pollinator habitat in a strip of unused ground by the parking lot. This demonstrates how you can create pollinator habitat anywhere and make a huge difference even with unused space. You can see a variety of Iowa native flowers in the pollinator habitat.
