Nate Bremer, peony and daylily expert, will be speaking at the Iowa Arboretum’s Spring Symposium on April 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Nate’s morning talk is titled “Woody Peonies: ‘Wow Factors’ for Your Garden”.  His afternoon talk is titled “Summer Color: Daylilies for the Northern Garden”.   Nate will share his knowledge of selecting, planting, and maintaining great daylilies and peonies.

Scott County Spring Garden Series: Heirloom Plants of the 1800s

Using research that was done in preparation of re-creating a garden at the historic 1833 Colonel George Davenport House on Arsenal Island, Faye will discuss the characteristics of the plants, why early settlers chose to grow them, and how they can be used today. Plants shown will be native, documented as available in the 1800s, and resistant to browsing by deer and rabbits.
