Are you a Master Gardener Volunteer looking for ways to better engage your audience in your gardening projects?
Extension educators and volunteers have a long history of supporting garden-based education programs and projects for individuals and communities. However, traditional program design and evaluation may not always deliver and capture the full extent of outcomes for the participant. Or, educators and volunteers are asked to deliver a program to a population in which they have no prior experience. The incorporation of principles and practices of horticultural therapy as well as thoughtful program design can improve the experience of participants in our garden-based education programs, better communicate the full extent of impacts, and give confidence to educators and volunteers to expand program access to new non-traditional audiences. https://wimastergardener.org/2019/02/06/workshop-incorporating-horticultural-therapy-into-extension-programs/
