cancelled - The Eastern Iowa Orchid Society in cooperation with the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce: The Sixth Annual Eastern Iowa Orchid Show and Sale on October 21 & 22, 2017, at the Noelridge Park Greenhouse, 4900 Council Street NE, Cedar Rapids. Noelridge Greenhouse’s orchid collection has won several national awards and several of their plants should be in full bloom for the show. In addition, 8 regional orchid societies will be displaying over 500 orchids of different varieties. Three Chicago area vendors will have orchids for sale. Exhibits of orchid related collectables, lectures on orchid culture, and an Open Exhibition Table where anyone can show their own blooming orchid (prior registration required) will be present. The show is free to the public, family friendly, handicapped accessible, and should be a great weekend outing! (10 – 5, Sat. Oct 21; 10 – 4, Sun. Oct 22).

How are these resources discarded or recovered and what are they used for in subsequent live. As we consume more and more, our planet carries the burden but at what point is that burden too much? Learn to conserve more, consume less, and be happier while discovering what our planet provides and how we use it. Our county generates more than 500 tons of waste per day. Let's work together to realize what part we play in the greater picture. Speaker is Jason Evans, Director of Education of the Linn County Solid Waste Agency.
