How to prune trees

Come to hear a presentation in Glenwood from Gabbi Edwards, Urban Forester with Iowa State University Extension will provide a presentation on best practices for how to correctly prune trees including hardwoods, fruit trees and shrubs. Additional topics include why pruning is important to prevent hazard trees, diseases and pests, when to prune, and general cutting techniques. Attendees are encouraged to bring photos of their existing yard and Gabbi will answer questions as time allows.

Ready…Set…Grow… will be held on Saturday March 21, 2020 from 8:00 am – 2:15 pm at Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL.

We offer a keynote speaker; 12 breakout sessions over a wide variety of topics including Eastern Bluebirds: Little Blue Gem in Your Garden, The Cook’s Garden, Fun with Fermentation, “Are My Trees and Plants in Trouble?” New Invaders Update, and many more; vendors with unique items for purchase; a Master Gardener Q & A Desk; and Continental Breakfast & Buffet Lunch. This year’s keynote address, Apples, Getting to the Core of things!, will be given by Richard Hentschel, University of Illinois Extension, Horticulture Educator.
