Butterfly Gardening (Sioux City)

The public is invited to learn more about attracting butterflies and other pollinators to their yards by creating flower gardens. There will be an emphasis on using native wildflowers.


The speaker is Rod Tondreau, Biology Instructor at WITCC. 

There will be many educational displays, also.

Home Gardener and Local Foods Conference

Join us in Sioux City on March 6 for the Home Gardener and Local Foods Conference!


Keynote speakers Jan Riggenbach and Courtney Long will present on growing healthy food in your own yard, as food security is a concern for many Iowans. Jan Riggenbach will present "Cheap and Charming Urban Farming" at 1:00 pm and Courtney Long will present "Planning and Developing Community Food Systems Projects" at 2:30 pm.

 

A panel of local experts follows the keynote speakers from 4:00-5:00 pm talking about gardening successes, and is open for Q & A. Dinner including locally grown ingredients follows that from 5:00-6:00 pm, with a Master Gardener Recognition Ceremony at the end of dinner from 5:45-6:00 pm. The last part of the conference is the final webcast of the Growing Together Series: Growing and Harvesting Vegetables from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Safe Produce for Donation (Sioux City)
