The annual field days will take place at five Iowa State research and demonstration farms and two county fairgrounds in July and August. The public is welcome to attend these free field days, which take place rain or shine.

 

“The theme for this year is planting the rainbow, with vegetables planted to be donated to nearby food pantries ranging in colors like pink tomatoes, purple snap beans, yellow cauliflower and orange winter squash,” said Cindy Haynes, a horticulture associate professor who coordinates the field days.

Come to the Zoo Garden at Weed Park in Muscatine. Dr. Cindy Haynes, Iowa State University Associate Professor, Consumer Horticulture Extension Specialist, will be presenting. Dr. Haynes is the author of Plant Zoo, the publication that inspired the creation of the Zoo Garden! Following Dr. Haynes presentation will be a tour of the garden. Muscatine County Master Gardeners and Muscatine Community College’s Continuing Education Department are again offering its popular Art of Gardening day-long seminar on Saturday, March 21, 2020. The Art of Gardening seminar is used to educate and inspire others to seek enjoyment and fulfillment through a variety of home gardening related topics and activities. Nearly 25 breakout sessions are scheduled for the day as well as vendor exhibits.
