Tuesday, March 28, 2017 - 1:00pm
Event Type:

Iowa State Scott County Extension Master Gardeners announce their spring educational series designed for gardeners of all experience levels. All classes are open to the public.

Tree and Shrub Pruning, Tuesday, March 28, 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Cyclone Room, Scott County Extension Office, 875 Tanglefoot Lane in Bettendorf, Iowa
Gabbi Edwards, Urban Forestry Specialist with Iowa State University’s Extension and Outreach Program

Late winter and early spring are great times for shrub and tree pruning because you can easily see the branch structure. But where should you cut—or not cut? How much should you cut? Should you treat the wounds? Yikes! Learn how a professional tackles the job. Weather permitting, Gabbi will demonstrate by pruning plantings at the Scott County Extension Office. Bring detailed pictures of your own pruning challenges to receive expert advice that will help you tackle this chore with confidence. Please note, the same class will be presented at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Program sponsors this class, so there is no charge for this class.

A nominal $5 fee is charged for all classes (except Tree and Shrub Pruning), and refreshments will be available. Please register for classes by calling the Extension Office at 563-359-7577 weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. For directions to the Extension Office and information on other Scott County Extension programs, visit /scott/.
