The Iowa Farm to School Conference on June 28-30 in Ankeny will be a great opportunity to connect with people from all over the state who care about kids, farmers, and communities. The conference kicks off with a social gathering Thursday, June 28, followed by a full day of workshops on Friday, June 29. Our keynote speaker is Andrea Northup, an experienced farm to school professional currently serving as lead for the Mountain Plains Region of the USDA’s Farm to School program. Her talk is titled “It Takes a Village: Building a Strong Farm to School Team.” Workshops will fall into three tracks on Friday:community, classroom, and cafeteria. Topics will include school gardens, procurement, hands-on learning, food sovereignty, and more. An optional local foods breakfast and school garden tour is set for Saturday morning. Cost for Thursday and Friday is $25 for adults, $10 for students through high school age. The field tour costs an additional $10.
