The Evening African Violet Club of Des Moines will host its annual show and sale April 28 – April 30, 2017, at Merle Hay Mall, near SEARS department store.
The show will be on display Saturday, April 29, from noon to 4 p.m., featuring the theme “Violets - In Crayon Colors”. African violets, potted and in designs, as well as other gesneriad house plants will be showcased.
The plant sale begins Friday, April 28, at noon and will be remain open during mall hours through 4 p.m. Sunday, April 30. Houseplant admirers will find a wide variety of plants in
a myriad of colors to brighten sun-lit windows or to grow under artificial light. Club members will be available to answer questions and provide advice for getting the cheerful houseplants to perform at their best.
“We encourage all plant lovers to check out our event,” said Tina Cook, show chairman. “We’re continuing the traditions of our club, which was founded in 1967, while incorporating
new and exciting plant varieties and growing methods. We’ll have many types and sizes of plants for sale and beautiful show plants on display.”
