Preserve the Taste of Summer

Preserving food at home is not difficult, but to ensure the food is safe for you and your family to eat, it does require following research-based recipes and canning practices. Preserve the Taste of Summer is a food preservation program that includes both online lessons and hands-on workshops providing the most current USDA-approved food preservation recommendations. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone age 18 years or older interested in learning safe food preservation recommendations. Participants in the hands-on workshops will practice making and canning recipes in the kitchen and will process their own jar to take home!
 
Four workshop options include: Salsa making (hotwater bath canning) & freezing; Jam making & dehydrating; Pickle making; and pressure canning.
 
Two Participation Options are available.
 
Professional ($100)-Registered Dietitians, Iowa Teachers

    • 8 online lessons (MUST be completed prior to workshop)
    • 2 hands-on workshops

Home Food Preserver ($35)

  • Cost includes

    • 8 online lessons (MUST be completed prior to workshop)
    • 1 hands-on workshop
