Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

The IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to individuals, families, and small businesses filing on a Schedule C. VITA is available to people who generally make $64,000 or less, and provides specialized assistance for persons with disabilities, the elderly, and limited English-speaking taxpayers.

VITA/TCE services are not only free, but they are also a reliable and trusted source for preparing tax returns. All VITA/TCE volunteers who prepare returns must take and pass tax law training that meets or exceeds IRS standards.

If you think you may qualify and would like to schedule your free tax prep help session at the Winterset location, contact the Madison County Extension Office at 515-462-1001 to schedule your appointment today.
