Raising School Ready Readers

This preschool/parent program is designed to encourage parents and their preschoolers to begin the basics of reading. Some might ask, "Our child is expected to actually know how to read before Kindergarten?" Well, not extctly. However, they are expected begin learning some skills that will give them a boost for when they ARE ready to read.
With the Raising School Ready Readers program the Five Areas of Literacy for Early Childhood Education will be offered through many hands-on activities each week. Play is a child’s work, so participants and their caregivers will be able to create, design, and learn many basics skills about pre-reading. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is excited to partner with the Winterset Library as they roll out this fun-filled family program for parents/caregivers and children ages two through pre-kindergarten.
Note: We will offer supper and free books at each of the 5 sessions.
