Interested in Becoming and Master Gardener?

 

Interested in becoming a Master Gardener? 
Prior experience or education is not required to become  Master Gardener.  Training includes core classes and one on-campus class providing gardeners a special perspective on lessons in horticulture. 
Participants must complete a minimum of 40 volunteer hours in their local community within one year of training.  Volunteer projects are available or applicants can suggest an idea for a local community project. 
To maintain an active status each year as an Iowa Master Gardener, you must complete a minimum of 10 hours of educational training and provide 20 hours of volunteer service annually.
Madison County core classes consist of 10 sessions and 8 webinar classes.  These are done on your own, on your time, with 10 Tuesday evening activities and tours beginning at 6:00pm.  September 4-November 6, 2018
One on-campus training is held Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 8:30am to 3:45 pm at the Scheman Building on ISU campus in Ames, Iowa.

Apply to become a Master Gardener on line! mastergardenerhours.hort.iastate.edu/application-form.php    Application deadline is August 15, 2018.  This includes materials for the core class, on-campus class and a copy of the resource guide and workbook.  Fee is $195.00
