NOW HIRING: Part-Time Office Assistant

OBJECTIVE: Provide excellent customer service using ISU Extension and Outreach materials and resources.


  • Assist clients by phone, email or walk-in.
  • Assist county-paid staff and specialists with program execution and day-to-day office function.
  • Fulfill the duties of assistant bookkeeper.
  • Use standard policies and procedures regarding county business operations and council relations.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with staff and clients in the county.
  • Oversee equipment supplies and inventory balances.
  • Continually develop and enhance relevant skills and understand current professional standards.
  • Manage continuing education for commercial and private pesticide applicators, including scheduling of training sessions.
  • Manage continuing education for manure management trainings for commercial and confinement applicators.
  • Communicate information to council members, including meeting agendas, financial reports and other important items as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Experience as a user of Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • People-oriented team player
  • Ability to multi-task and organize effectively


  • Associate or bachelor’s degree or two years of office management experience
  • Professional office experience
  • Bookkeeping experience

SUPERVISOR: Regional Extension Director


This position is part-time, with typical daily office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the start of employment. COVID-19 has led to a decrease in current face-to-face programming; however, as programming returns back to normal, the hours are likely to increase for this position with daily office hours growing to 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will also be an occasional need for late-afternoon and evening hours.

Pay will be commensurate with experience.
