COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa – The 11th Annual Louisa County 4-H Foundation Soup Supper was held on Saturday, January 27th at the Louisa County Fairgrounds. It brought in a record-breaking total of over $13,000 to support Louisa County 4-H!
A free will offering was taken for several soup options along with fresh vegetables and rolls. Many dessert offerings included pies, cookies, tied cakes, and breads that were donated by 4-H families as items to be auctioned off. The highlight of the evening was a gooseberry pie bought for $4,400.
“Being new to the community it was an amazing opportunity to witness the overwhelming generosity and support of so many people. The wonderful baked items that were donated, the bidding wars and the laughter shared by all made for a great night! Louisa is blessed to have such a supportive and actively involved community for their 4-H program and I am grateful to help be a part of it!”, stated the new County Youth Coordinator, Melissa Bell.
The Louisa County 4-H Foundation will use the funds to cover all the enrollment fees for Louisa County 4-Hers, fund $200 mini-grants to 4-H clubs for meeting/program expenses, and offer $1000 scholarships to graduating seniors in 4-H.
