Lee County Extension Seeking 2021 Summer Intern

The summer intern is responsible for providing assistance to county staff in the areas of programming, customer service, and public relations/marketing. This position is temporary (approximately June 1 to August 22, 2021) part time (approximately 400 hours) under the supervision of the Program Coordinator. What follows is the basic job description, other duties may be assigned.

  1. Gather and organize STEM Camp materials
  2. Assist in delivering STEM Camp summer programming as needed
  3. Report any safety problems or issues immediately to supervisor
  4. Aid in preparation for 2020 fair education activities/camps
  5. Accurately enter county fair data into provided excel spreadsheets
  6. Assist with youth leadership activities
  7. Attend and assist with Intern Connect program
  8. Answer office phone and assist walk-in clientele as needed
  9. Provide educational opportunity with community partners


  1. 18 or older
  2. Currently enrolled in a higher education program working toward a degree in education, communication, agriculture, or related field.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  4. Reliable and prompt
  5. Experience working with children and knowledge of child development
  6. Pleasant personality, eagerness to work with children
  7. Good customer service skills
  8. Able to maintain confidentiality
  9. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  10. Pass a background check
