Delayed Planting Impact and Next Steps Meetings to be held Tuesday, May 29 and Wednesday May 30th.

Are your fields too wet to plant? Do you have standing water in your fields? Do you feel you are way behind in fieldwork? Wondering how crop insurance will work if you can’t get a crop in the ground? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then consider attending a Delayed Planting Meeting held by ISU Extension and Outreach.
 
Emmet, Palo Alto, and Kossuth counties are holding Delayed Planting meetings to help farmers understand their options with delayed planting due to weather conditions. These meetings will take place on Tuesday, May 29th and Wednesday, May 30th. Paul Kassel, Extension Field Agronomist, will address delayed planting and replanting effects on crop yield and grain moisture, hybrid/variety selection, and other agronomic topics.  Questions related to crop insurance and FSA policies will also be addressed.
 
On Tuesday, May 29, 2018, meetings will be held in Emmet and Palo Alto Counties.  Those interested have the option of attending in Estherville at the VFW Hall, 314 S 1st Street, beginning at 9 am, or in Emmetsburg at the Palo Alto County Extension Office (basement meeting room) 2008 10th St., beginning at 1pm. Presenting at these meetings will be Paul Kassel, Field Agronomist for ISU Extension and Outreach, Gary Wright, Farm Management Specialist for ISU Extension and Outreach, Nicole Tifft, Crop Insurance Agent with Cornerstone Insurance, and Lisa Forburger, County Executive Director for the FSA.
 
On Wednesday, May 30, 2018 meetings will be held in Kossuth County.   Those interested have the option of attending near Algona at the Water’s Edge Nature Center, 1010 250th St., beginning at 9:30 am, or in Bancroft at the Summit Center, 304 S. Summit St., beginning at 1:30 pm. Presenting at these meetings will be Paul Kassel, Field Agronomist for ISU Extension and Outreach, Nicole Tifft, Crop Insurance Agent with Cornerstone Insurance, and Angie Christian, County Executive Director for the FSA.
