The Downsizing for Senior Living program will be an opportunity for individuals to learn about the “Top Ten Tips for Downsizing.” This program will be held on Monday, August 22 from 2 to 3 pm at the Fenton Public Library (605 Maple St., Fenton).  The program is free for all participants.

Fourteen local gardening enthusiasts participated in a Seed Exchange on Wednesday, February 23rd at the Burt Activity Complex. The event, held for the second year in a row, was hosted in partnership by the Burt Public Library, ISU Extension and Outreach of Kossuth County, and Kossuth County Master Gardeners.

The workshop series, called Soil Testing Interpretations and Recommendations: Maximizing Return on Investment, will be held in February and March.

To welcome Gentry Sorenson, ISU Extension and Outreach Field Agronomist, to the area, ISU Extension and Outreach Kossuth County is hosting an “Agronomy Coffee” on Friday, September 3rd from 9 – 11 am at their office.  Area farmers, agribusiness employees, and others wishing to meet Sorenson are invited for coffee, refreshments, and conversation.  At 9:30 am, ISU Extension and Outreach Kossuth County is also hosting an Algona Area Chamber of Commerce Coffee.

The Iowa Beef Center and Iowa State University Extension are cooperating with the Iowa Beef Industry Council to help educate producers in Beef Quality Assurance program.  A training and certification session will be held on Wed. June 30 from 6-9 pm at Algona Livestock 2220 Hwy 69 N in Algona.  Kossuth County cattlemen will serve hamburgers for attendees at 6 pm followed by the BQA program.  Please RSVP for the meal by contacting Algona Livestock at 515-295-7273.
