The Single Source Commercial Swine Project is an opportunity for 4-H and FFA members to gain valuable experience in raising pigs through a partnership with a local Jones County pork producer. Those interested must sign up with Molly Schmitt at no later than Friday, February 28. Each participant may sign up for and purchase up to three pigs.

The 2020 4-H Horse Clinics have been announced! If you are planning to show a horse for 4-H or FFA at the 2020 Great Jones County Fair, you must attend one of these workshops WITH your horse to be eligible to show.  Workshops will be held at the Great Jones County Fairgrounds. Saturday dates will be held from 8:30 - 10 am and Wednesdays from 6 - 7:30 pm.

Get a start on your 2020 livestock project during this one day workshop on December 27, 2019. We'll hear from experts on overall nutrition, rule changes for 2020 and record keeping. There will be in-depth breakout sessions available for dairy, swine, beef, poultry, rabbit, dog, sheep, goat, horse, pets and other animals.

Patrick Wall, extension beef specialist, said the 2020 Cornbelt Cow-Calf Conference will address new, timely and even controversial topics relevant to Iowa’s beef industry. The conference will be held Jan. 25 at the Bridge View Center, Ottumwa.
