Iowans struggling to deal with the stress from the devastation brought to the state Aug. 10 from a damaging, high-wind derecho can call Iowa Concern for help, 24/7, says Tammy Jacobs, coordinator for the long-time service from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

This FREE event is open to anyone in the Jones County community and beyond. Parents and community members are welcome! Come hear Dr. Douglas Gentile (bio to the right) as he engages the audience in thoughtful and dynamic discussion on the effects of media violence and video games with our youth.

The inaugural Iowa Small Farms Conference is scheduled for February 13, 2016 in Ames, Iowa.  Keynote speaker Daniel Salatin of Polyface Farms will be featured along with a wide variety of educational options, a trade show, lunch and giveaways.

  • ISU Extension assists Iowa communities in planning and encouraging sustainable community and economic development that lead to positive quality of life for all citizens.

  • ICIP provides data and research on local economic, demographic, and social trends for business and communities.

  • Reports of recent and historical trends in the local retail trade sector by city.

  • Helping the College of Engineering and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach carry out their land-grant university mission to improve the quality of life in Iowa by enhancing the performance of Iowa industry.

  • The CVC facilitates networking among small and medium size rural communities, sponsors policy analyses, engages communities in dialogue, and fosters discussion among rural and urban interests.

  • Data on each county in Iowa including population demographics, education, retail sales, personal income, employment, occupation, housing, and family characteristics.

  • During times of natural disaster, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach offers educational resources to reduce the personal impact of natural disasters, working in partnership with the local, state and federal agencies addressing the disaster.
