Healthy Food Access Specialist January Monthly Update

Each month our Healthy Food Access Specialist, Brianna Montross, sends out a monthly update to food pantries across Iowa. Each monthly update includes a meal bundle, recipe, resources, and a video on different topics to enhance food pantries. In January, Brianna focuses on the importance of different forms of fruits and vegetables.

Fruits and vegetables are important for health. Supplying different forms of fruits and vegetables in the food pantry helps create an inclusive environment for all audiences with varying types of food storage equipment. Canned fruits and veggies are shelf stable, fresh and frozen have high nutrient quality, and juice is a kid favorite option.

Learn more about the benefits of all forms of fruits and vegetables in this month’s kit and video.
