Objective

Seasonal position June and July of the calendar year, to manage the 4-H Clover Café during the Winneshiek County Fair in Decorah. 

Responsibilities

Do advance preparations for 4-H Clover Cafe: 

-inventory equipment 

-make necessary improvements in Clover Café layout 

-locate sources of products with Clover Café volunteers 

-make arrangements for and accept deliveries of orders 

-select recipes for menu items, compare prices, prepare a menu with selling prices 

-determine standard serving sizes, acquire appropriate utensils for uniformity of serving 

-clean and set up kitchen and dining area 

-establish sanitary procedures for all kitchen workers 

 

Work with Clover Café volunteers in keeping a detailed accounting of all: 

-equipment inventories and purchases (beginning and ending) 

-orders (with quantities) and deliveries 

 

Manage Clover Café volunteers, both youth and adults: 

-coordinates with Extension staff on scheduling for peak demand of volunteers 

-delegates appropriate volunteer tasks including food preparation, serving, dishwashing, table cleaning, daily clean-up of dining area, kitchen floor/mats, etc. 

-responsible for the safekeeping of cash receipts and expense documentation with Clover Café volunteers  

 

Present at Fair: The Clover Café is open Tuesday July 11th through Saturday July 15th of the Winneshiek County Fair from 8AM-8PM.  The Clover Café manager is required to have the Café ready each morning to open and cleaned up and prepped for the next day before the end of the day.  The Clover Café Manager can work with designated Shift Managers to delegate tasks.   

 

After Fair: 

-take inventory of all equipment and supplies, secure in a locked manner for next year 

-assemble records into an activity report which includes inventories and suggestions 

-clean and shut down food stand for the season 

Qualifications
  • An ability to plan, organize, and manage the 4-H Clover Café tasks & workers. 

  • An interest in youth and their development. 

  • Past work experience in foodservice and with 4-H Club(s). 

  • Capacity to deal with the situation and take action. 

  • Employment contingent on successful screening in Child Protection Safety Program.
