This is a temporary part-time position (20-30 hours per week) with a beginning date of mid-May and an ending date of no later than August 1st. Additional hours will be required during the Shelby County Fair. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Work hours are variable, depending on programming needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: This position primary focus will be to assist Shelby County Extension Educators with summer day camp needs. This support position requires a positive team player who will assist all extension staff with procedures and programs to operate a successful youth development program during the summer program season.
- Provide research-based educational programming by assisting in organizing, planning and implementing curriculum that will lead to positive youth development.
- Work independently and with other staff to promote summer day camp opportunities to youth throughout the county.
- Maintain a close working relationship with Extension Educator and keep all staff updated on programming.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma plus, a minimum of 1 year post High School Diploma studies or equivalent experience in youth development, education, agriculture, family and consumer sciences or related fields.
- Must be able to be approved under ISU Extension child protection policy with a background check.
- Interest in working directly with youth and leading educational and recreational activities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy (MS Office: Word, Excel, Publisher)
- Preference will be given to those with knowledge and experience as a 4-H member or volunteer.
