Objective

To provide support to ISU Extension and Outreach staff in Plymouth County by assisting with 4-H summer camps and programming. To assist with the preparation and implementation of 4-H programming at the Plymouth County Fair. 

Responsibilities

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with implementation of 4-H summer programs and planning for 4-H programming at the fair.

Assist in preparations made for the 4-H food stand, fair entries, livestock entries and shows, 4-H static judging, Blair House operations, communication events and county council.

Organize and assist with youth summer camps.

Support 4-H volunteers/leaders in their work with the fair.

Office and clerical work related to extension and outreach programming.

Qualifications

Candidate Qualifications

One year past high school and High School Diploma or equivalent.                               

*Not a current member of 4-H or FFA

Knowledge of 4-H and the county/community where employed.

Ability to work positively and collaboratively with others.

Willingness and ability to travel within Plymouth County.

Ability to work a flexible schedule especially during fair week. 

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate time and job activities.

Basic computer skills (Microsoft office, e-mail).

Ability to work and communicate with youth and adults.

U.S. Citizen or legal to work in U.S.

Terms of Employment

Non-exempt hourly position; $14.00/hour. Must pass background check. 

Hours would be approximately 24-40 hours per week starting around May 20 to August 9, 2024, with hours negotiable each week.  There will be a potential for more hours during the week of the fair. 

Mileage, while on official county business, will be paid at the rate current at the federal level. 

Meal expenses, incurred on the job, will be reimbursed at actual costs, as per county policy. Expense for a fair gate pass will be reimbursed.
