Objective
    1. The position provides assistance to the Extension Council, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach (ISUEO), and to the Regional Extension Education Director for organizational and delivery of day camp programs.
    2. The Position requires knowledge of ISUEO, County Policies, skills in written and oral communication, skill in delivery of a wide variety of topics relating to 4-H and STEM education, healthy choices, gardening, and nutrition.
    3. The Monroe County Summer Intern will help plan and execute day camp programs, provide 4-H program and county fair support throughout the summer.
    4. This job will include some evenings, weekend and additional over time hours.
Responsibilities
    1. Plan, prepare for and implement summer education and day camp programs.
    2. Provide 4-H program and assist in planning, organizing, and implementing fair activities throughout the summer. These include but are not limited to clothing and communication events, livestock shows, and other youth activities.
    3. Demonstrate a commitment to improving the lives of children and an appreciation of different learning styles.
    4. Develop marketing tools and advertise programs, using both print and online marketing methods.
    5. Provide evaluation tools for educational programs.
    6. Well organized and responsive to kids’ needs.
    7. Work cooperatively with other adults as well as with children.
    8. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
    1. High School diploma
    2. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
    3. Employment contingent on successful screening in First Advantage Background Screening program
    4. Educational background and experience in education or youth development preferred.
    5. Ability to work with minimal supervision from professional staff & supervise volunteers.
    6. Ability to work as a team in a fast-paced team atmosphere to develop and deliver programming.
    7. Strong verbal/written communication skills & ability to effectively communicate with all age groups. Ability to work with technology a must.
    8. Organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities and the ability to achieve deadlines.
Additional Information
    1. This position is seasonal, running for up to 12 weeks from the middle of May to early August. 40 hours per week, paid at $12 per hour.
    2. This position will involve considerable bending, sitting, standing, and reaching, supervising recreation (primarily outside), and other activities as planned or assigned.
    3. Ability to work outside in the summer weather, for up to four hours at a time.
    4. Ability to be around farm livestock and other animals for extended periods of time.
    5. Lifting of 30lbs. or less on occasion.
