2024 Lyon County 4-H and Youth Programs Summer Assistant

Provide assistance to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Lyon County staff in carrying out various summer activities.


Provide support to Extension staff as needed. This will include but is not limited to support for summer camps, county fair, and other programming.

  • Strong organization, communication, and people skills.
  • Knowledge of 4-H and county fair.
  • Ability to provide support at various times of the day.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass background screening to meet the Child Protection and Safety Policy requirements.
  • Computer skills also helpful.
Additional Information
  • Employment will be from approximately May 28- August 8, 2024.
  • Work 24-32 hours per week, however this will vary depending on activities that week. July 15- 26th will require more hours of work, including evenings and possible weekends, due to the Lyon County Fair.
  • Hourly wage will be $13/hour.
  • Position will be based at the ISU Extension and Outreach Lyon County office located at 301 1st Ave, Suite 225, in Rock Rapids.
  • Work hours will be flexible, including some evenings, not to exceed 40 hours/week.
  • Mileage and other approved travel expenses will be reimbursed monthly at the IRS rate.
