To provide leadership and oversight of the county office and staff. Serves as the council representative. Works with council and staff to implement a county plan of work that focuses on stakeholder education and engagement.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with staff and clients in the county
- Provides leadership and supervises county paid staff
- Conducts annual performance reviews and assists staff in developing plans of work/professional development plans
- Serves as county staff representative for the extension council and creates council agendas and board packets
- Manages the county budget
- Secures and manages outside funding including grants and private sources
- Oversees day-to-day office operations
- Maintains high level of marketing and visibility for all programs, including maintenance of county extension website
- Provides leadership for county strategic planning and program planning based on local needs
- Oversees building maintenance and property management
- Oversees equipment supplies and inventory balances
- Provides excellent customer service to clients
- Coordinates pesticide and manure applicator trainings, and others as needed
- Assists county-paid staff and specialists with program execution
- Manages volunteer records and background screenings as required in risk management policies
- Represents Hardin County Extension professionally and positively
- Uses standard policies and procedures regarding county business operations and council relations
- Continually develops and enhances relevant skills and understnds current professional standards
- Other duties as assigned
- Associates degree
- Minimum three years management or leadership experience
- Supervisory experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Computer (including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Teams, etc.), organizational and problem-solving skills
- Team player and people oriented
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to travel and access to dependable transportation with proof of vehicle liability coverage
- Bachelor's degree
- Content knowledge in at least one field: agriculture and natural resources, human sciences, youth development, community and economic development
- Successful contract and grant writing experience
- Experience working cooperatively with boards and diverse groups
